We can't wait to have you in class!

Street Dance/ Commercial Dance

This is where it all started for us.

Street dance is what got the PDA name about and we are so proud of our success over the years in this style.

We teach street dance from age 2 right up to adult level.

Our classes are mainly commercial in style and choreography based but we have authentic street dance at the core. Covering styles including locking, house, popping, waving, hip hop, waacking, dancehall, breaking and many more.

Dancers can progress onto our competition teams who have gone on to compete at a Regional, National, European and World level.

We teach street dance right from Tots and up to adults classes. It is our most popular dance style we teach. We love the freedom we get from this style and also the banging tunes!!!

You do not need to have any experience to start, just a keen attitude and a desire to learn.

Contemporary Dance

Contemporary Dance was the next style of dance we branched into at PDA and it quickly became very popular.

Contemporary dance originated from classical ballet but is more "free" in it style.

In our classes we begin with strong technique training and then the latter portion of the lesson is spent on choreography as well as encouragement towards improvisation, expression and individualism.

We train dancers from age 7 in this style but encourage any younger dancers who would be interested in pursuing contemporary dance to start with ballet class to build a technical foundation.

Dancers can go on to compete as part of our PDA team in this style.

Contemporary dance is strongly recommended to those considering taking GCSE or A-Level dance.

Ballet

Ballet is a more recent addition to our timetable and the classes have been going from strength to strength.

Classes start from age 2 in our "Tot Steppaz" classes and then from school year reception we teach the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) syllabus.

Currently we are running grades primary, grade 4 and grade 5.

Our grade 5 class is very much aimed at teens and we encourage anyone who wants to get involved in ballet to get in touch and please do not feel like you are "too old" to start. We wont put you in "the baby class"!

We also have an adults ballet class which is perfect for those returning to dance in their adult life. This class is still very much a ballet class as opposed to a fitness class. This class follows parts of the RAD grade 5 and 6 as well as non-syllabus repertoire.

Acro

We are a certified studio with Acrobatic Arts and train dancers in all aspects of acro dance including, strength, flexibility, limbering, tumbling and balancing.

Acro differs from gymnastics as it has a strong dance element and does not involve equipment.

Classes are mainly skills based and dancers are grouped by age but work on their own individual progressions set out by their coach. We also work on choreography for performances.

Dancers can progress into our "Advanced Acro" class and move on to compete once they have mastered the required skills.

We train dancers in acro from age 4.

Aerial Hoop, Silks and Slings

We are a certified studio with Aerial Arts in association with Acrobatic Arts.

Our Aerial Hoop and Silks classes have been hugely popular right from the first class and it is easy to see why. We have now also introduced an aerial slings class. Slings are essentially a hammock, similar to silks but slightly easier to master.

Our aerialists progress at incredible speeds and grow in confidence week on week through the sensitive and progressive teaching tools that we use.

All of our aerialists are given opportunities to perform and compete. We have only recently stepped into the competitive aerial arts scene competing so far in Dover and Barnsley and our aerialists have so far scooped 1st place twice as well as a judges choice award. We have 11 finalists travelling to Birmingham soon to compete after being chosen by an expert judging pannel via video entries.

Due to the nature of this class we have a maximum of 8 students per class to ensure everyone gets plenty of "flying time" and the minimum age requirement is 7 years old. Most classes hold wait lists and we recommend adding yourself to the waiting list asap.

We also have a weekly adults class which is a mix of both hoop and silks. These classes fill extremely fast so early booking is advisable

Musical Theatre

What could be more fun than singing and dancing to some of the best musicals around?

If you have a child who loves to sing and dance then this is the class for them.

In our Musical Theatre classes we teach both a song and a dance to go along with it. These classes are always such good fun and full of energy. The talent is also OFF THE CHART!!

Learn how to harmonise and sing in rounds as well as learning characterisation and putting it all in a routine

Cheerleading

We have been running our cheer classes since the end of 2021 with great success.

Our cheer coach Maddie is a qualified cheerleading coach with also an extensive dance background training in multiple sryles sinca a young age.

Our cheer classes are split into our U10 squad and our 10&Over Squad.

Cheerleaders are trained in flexibility, strength, balancing, tumbling, positioning, jumps and flying.

This class is all about team work! It is a brilliant way to make new friends and build confidence.

Ballroom & Latin

If you love Strictly, then you will love this class. Learn all the main styles along with the sass, flair and fire that comes with this style of dance

Taught by Lauren who regularly competes at Blackpool Tower Ballroom and also teaches regularly in London. We are super lucky to have her teaching at PDA

These classes are primarily taught as solo dancing. We do this to ensure everyone can concentrate on their own progression and learn the step sequences without the distraction of a partner.

Dancers will learn cha cha cha, waltz, rhumba, tango, jive, pasodoble, quick-step and many more styles under the "ballroom and latin" umbrella

We have a children's class on a Saturday morning at 10:30am and our adults class runs on a Wednesday evening at 6pm and Friday morning at 11am. NO PARTNER NEEDED!!

Due to the huge popularity of this class, from September our childrens class will be split into under 10s and 10 and overs.

TOT STEPPAZ

Our Tot Steppaz classes are designed to introduce pre-schoolers to the world of dance in a fun and inclusive way. Classes are for confident walkers right up until they begin school. Please note that a parent/carer must be present during these classes.

TOTS STREET

In street we join in with fun action songs as well as learning a short piece of original choreography to a new song each week.

TOTS BALLET

In ballet tots learn how to skip, hop, plie, foot placements, good toes naughty toes, as well as fun improvisation with props.

Adults Classes

We offer Aerial Hoop and silks, Street Dance, Ballroom, Ballet and aerial yoga classes for adults.

Aerial Hoop and Street Dance are on a pay-as-you-go set up. Ballet and ballroom are booked in half termly blocks, and we run our aerial yoga in 4 week blocks.

Our adults classes are fun, high energy, and a great way to make new friends and let off some steam. We have a wonderful bunch of adult dancers all from different backgrounds and different ability levels.

If you have always wanted to try (as soooo many people tell us) then its time to put on your big kid pants and come along to class!! You wont regret it and you will be welcomed with open arms.
